Old Course Vilamoura — Frank Pennink’s “Grande Dame” within mature pine forest

The course winds through a mature pine forest in the heart of Vilamoura, set on gently undulating terrain and well-protected from the surrounding urbanization.

The Old Course opened in 1969, designed by Frank Pennink. It underwent significant modernization in 1996-1997, while retaining its original routing, and subsequently benefited from a further renovation and a redesigned clubhouse under the management of DETAILS.

Pennink created elegant doglegs, fairways that are framed without being overly narrow, and greens that reward a well-chosen angle. The quality of the course stems from the continuity of its routing.

The layout is not exceptionally long, but the presence of pines, changes in elevation, and well-defended greens demand a high level of precision and discipline.

The Old Course features a renovated clubhouse, offers premium service, and provides access to the other courses and facilities available within Vilamoura Golf.
