UGOLF Château de Raray

La Licorne is Raray’s main woodland course, designed around a seventeenth-century château whose monumental hunting walls create one of French golf’s most distinctive settings.

Golf was created in 1987 within the listed Château de Raray estate. Patrice Leglise routed La Licorne through century-old forest and park views. The name comes from unicorn sculptures on Porte de Diane beside the range. Le Daguet and Le Faon were later added to create a multi-course venue. The course crosses Valois woodland close to Senlis and Roissy. Beech, oak and clearings structure fairways. Château views and two monumental walls depicting a life-size hunt provide exceptional heritage. Ground is gently rolling with enclosed forest and country openings.

Leglise used British influence with broad fairways and clearly shaped bunkers. Width is strategic: preferred angles often lie close to danger. Greens are large and several holes dogleg around trees. Par fives invite attack but require committed route choice. The club publishes 6,145 metres and par 72 from white tees, while FFGolf’s back reference reaches 6,446 metres with Course Rating 74. 4 and Slope 138. Length, bunkers and woodland lines form a complete test.

The estate offers hotel, restaurant, seminars, range, academy and two complementary courses. Visitors may reserve with a published maximum handicap of 40 on La Licorne.
