Tróia Golf opened in 1980, designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. The course is situated on the sandy Tróia Peninsula, nestled between the Sado Estuary and the Atlantic.

Jones incorporated narrow fairways, bunkers strategically placed at driving distance, and small, well-guarded greens. The back nine holes are particularly renowned.

The course demands consistent precision and maintains a more classic, natural character compared to many modern resort developments.
