Le Château — Terre Blanche’s grand championship course, expansive and challenging in the Pays de Fayence

The course stretches across the hills of the Var region, amidst pines, oaks, valleys, lakes, and views towards the perched villages of the Pays de Fayence. The Mediterranean climate offers a long playing season, but the varied terrain and local wind can quickly alter distances.

Terre Blanche developed its two courses in the early 2000s on a 301-hectare estate. Dave Thomas, a former Ryder Cup player turned architect, designed Le Château and Le Riou. Le Château was conceived as the resort's main course, accessible to visitors and capable of hosting high-level competitions.

Dave Thomas created wide, undulating fairways, deep bunkers, several spectacular water hazards, and large but compartmentalized greens. The playing areas are generous, but the optimal line almost always depends on the flag position.

At 6,616 meters from the back tees, Le Château demands both power and precision. The elevation changes make distances less clear, and several approaches are played to elevated greens or those protected by water.

The resort offers a hotel, spa, several restaurants, an academy, a training center, and very high-level services. The experience is that of a major European destination, with consistently excellent course preparation.
