Son Gual — Thomas Himmel’s major private project in Mallorca’s valley of windmills
Geography & setting
Son Gual stretches across approximately 160 hectares within the interior plains of Mallorca, nestled amongst almond trees, olive groves, vibrant wildflowers, and ancient windmills.
History
The project began in 1998 when the Son Gual finca, near Sant Jordi, was acquired with the aim of creating a premium golf course. The owner, Adam Pamer, entrusted the design to Thomas Himmel. The course officially opened its doors in 2007.
Architecture
Himmel crafted wide, undulating fairways, more than sixty bunkers, expansive greens, and several water hazards. The architecture appears generous, yet the ball's position significantly influences approach shots.
The course in detail
The course is long, open, and impeccably presented. The winds sweeping across the plains can make the large greens and lengthy par 4s considerably more challenging.
Club experience
Son Gual offers a refined and private experience, featuring a Majorcan-style clubhouse, dining facilities, a driving range, and service meticulously tailored to the international visitor.
