Rye Golf Club

Rye Old — a short, fast and intellectual links beside Romney Marsh

The course is situated near Camber Sands and Romney Marsh, within a flat landscape of low dunes, sand, fine grasses, and constant winds.

Rye Golf Club was founded in 1894. The Old Course is primarily associated with Harry Colt, who redesigned and developed the course in the early 20th century.

Colt utilized a compact routing, small greens, subtle angles, and natural bunkers. Its modest length is offset by firm conditions, the wind, and the precision required.

The course plays fast and encourages walking. The holes appear straightforward but become exceedingly difficult when the wind shifts.

The highly traditional private club is strongly associated with foursomes and amateur golf.
