Ravenstein — Tervuren’s royal course within a historic park beside the arboretum

Ravenstein unfolds within a vast wooded park in Tervuren, in the immediate vicinity of the royal arboretum. Conifers, beeches, oaks, and landscaped vistas frame undulating fairways in an exceptionally serene environment close to Brussels.

The Royal Golf Club of Belgium was founded in 1906 under the patronage of King Leopold II. The course is located on the Ravenstein estate in Tervuren, around a stately farm whose history dates back to the 15th century. Seymour Dunn designed the initial course, followed by Tom Simpson and, later, Martin Hawtree who contributed to its evolution.

The course is characterized by tree-lined fairways, relatively small greens, and angles that demand precise tee shots. Successive developments have reinforced the bunkers and surfaces without erasing the historic parkland character.

The terrain is moderately but consistently undulated. Several holes require uphill approaches or shots from sloped lies, while the trees quickly block recovery lines.

The club remains one of the most private and prestigious in the country. Its historic clubhouse, botanical park, and proximity to Brussels give the visit a strong institutional dimension.
