Pine Valley — George Crump and Harry Colt creating uncompromising golf in New Jersey sand

Pine Valley occupies a landscape of pine forests, inland dunes, natural sand, ravines, and wetlands in southern New Jersey.

George Crump acquired the land in 1912 with the ambition of creating a course that would bring together the best strategic ideas in golf. He worked with Harry Colt and consulted several major architects. The course gradually opened before Crump's death in 1918.

Each hole is isolated and demands a complete decision. Forced carries, natural bunkers, diagonal angles, and heavily guarded greens make recovery difficult.

The course is famous for the absence of weak holes and for its constant intensity. The terrain appears wild, despite extreme architectural control.

Pine Valley is one of the most private clubs in the world, with access by invitation only and a culture deeply centered around the course.
