The course occupies a vast, undulating site between Beverly Hills and Century City. Natural barrancas, dry slopes, scattered trees, and urban views create a rare contrast.

The Los Angeles Country Club dates to 1897. George C. Thomas Jr. and William P. Bell reshaped the North Course in the late 1920s, and Gil Hanse with Jim Wagner completed a major restoration in 2010.

Thomas utilizes width, barrancas, diagonal lines, and large greens. Hanse's restoration re-established several angles, bunkers, and ground game options lost over time.

The course is long but primarily strategic. Barrancas cross or border numerous holes, and the greens feature several distinct plateaus.

The exceptionally private club gained global visibility through the 2017 Walker Cup and 2023 U. S. Open.
