Le Touquet Golf Resort

La Forêt is Le Touquet’s historic course, a pine-woodland parkland opened in 1904, sheltered from coastal wind and accessible to many levels.

La Forêt was the first course at Golf du Touquet. It opened on 24 May 1904 as part of the sporting vision promoted by Allen Stoneham, John Whitley and Pierre de Coubertin. Horace Hutchinson and Nick Lane Jackson routed it through the pine forest. It launched the resort’s international sporting identity and remains one of France’s oldest active courses. The course winds through roughly one hundred hectares of pine, oak, poplar and willow. The woodland shelters players from coastal wind. Sandy ground still drains well, but the atmosphere is more enclosed, quiet and meditative than La Mer.

Fairways are generally readable but narrow towards the greens. Trees create the main strategic lines, while bunkers defend surfaces often smaller than those on La Mer. Accuracy and correct fairway side are essential. The published version measures 5,915 metres and plays to par 72. Moderate length and wind shelter make it welcoming, but trees, doglegs and defended greens punish directional errors.

La Forêt is often the resort’s most accessible course. It suits members, visitors and groups while retaining genuine historical and architectural interest.
