La Hacienda Links — a coastal course completely reinvented by Kurtis Bowman opposite Gibraltar

The course runs along the Mediterranean between Sotogrande and Gibraltar. Several holes offer direct views of the Rock, the sea, and the North African coast. The wind is a constant element.

The former Alcaidesa Links has been transformed by American architect Kurtis Bowman. The new course reopened in July 2022 after extensive reconstruction aimed at creating a more coherent, strategic, and sea-oriented identity.

Bowman completely remodelled the fairways, bunkers, greens, and circulation. The layout blends links-style areas, constructed dunes, and more Mediterranean sequences. The green approaches allow for ground play, but the slopes make placement essential.

The par 72 alternates between holes exposed at the water's edge and more inland returns. The greens are spacious, firm, and very undulating.

La Hacienda operates as a contemporary resort with two courses, a renovated clubhouse, driving range, dining facilities, and direct access from nearby accommodations.
