International Golf Maastricht

: the rare European course where one round genuinely crosses the Dutch-Belgian border.

The project opened in 2007 on the Dousberg. Steve Marnoch designed the Championship Course with Dimitri Van Hauwaert. Thirteen holes lie in the Netherlands and five in Belgium, making the international border central to the club’s identity. At more than ninety metres above sea level, the course overlooks the Meuse valley. Elevation, views across two countries and wind exposure create an unusually non-Dutch atmosphere. The property covers about seventy-five hectares. Dutch Limburg occupies a unique place in the country’s golf geography. Its hills, valleys and varied soils create sightlines and ball flights that are impossible on northern polder courses. The region’s proximity to Belgium and Germany also gives its clubs a naturally cross-border membership and visitor culture.

Marnoch uses broad fairways, elevation change, water and strategic bunkers. Holes follow the plateau edge and slopes towards Belgium. The routing alternates exposed sequences with more contained holes. The relationship between tee, landing area and green is therefore more important than apparent width. Architects use slopes to create uphill, downhill and uneven-lie shots without making every hole depend on raw length. Published yellow-tee length is about 5,599 metres, par 72. Slopes and wind matter more than raw distance. Several holes provide dramatic views and carries over hazards.

The club has a large practice facility, dining and a direct connection with Dormio Resort Maastricht. This golf-accommodation combination is especially suitable for Round events. Local hospitality—terraces, dining, accommodation and access to historic towns—extends the day beyond the final green. A visit can easily form part of a multi-day stay in the Meuse-Rhine Euroregion.
