Ieper Open Golf

Ieper Open Golf is a public nine-hole club founded in 1990 and designed by Joan Dudok van Heel to provide affordable, accessible golf.

The club began with an explicit golf-for-all philosophy. At a time when the game was often associated with expensive private clubs, Ieper offered an open regional alternative. Since 1990 the course has welcomed members, visitors and developing players while preserving its educational purpose. The course lies north of Ypres beside an unobtrusive industrial area, but routing and planting largely screen golfers from it. Flat open ground integrates with the Westhoek landscape, and West Flanders wind regularly affects club selection.

Joan Dudok van Heel created a moderately short course with sufficiently broad fairways and carefully considered hazards. Water, bunkers and angles make the loop educational for beginners without becoming repetitive for experienced golfers. Golf Vlaanderen lists the layout as a nine-hole par 32. Rating sources describe two circuits at roughly 4,126 metres and par 64. Flat ground is easy to walk, while wind and hazards require course management.

Visitors are welcomed with handicaps up to 53 according to Golf Vlaanderen. Facilities include twenty covered and illuminated range bays, putting green, brasserie terrace, changing rooms, small shop and conference room.
