History
Founded in 1895, Royal Wellington moved to Heretaunga in 1908. Greg Turner and Scott Macpherson completely rebuilt the championship course, reopening it in 2013.
Architecture
Mature parkland beside the Hutt River combines old trees with wider lines, larger greens and stronger river relationships.

The course has 18 holes, a par of 72, and measures approximately 6350 meters from the championship tees. The course utilizes its parkland environment to organize angles, hazards, and approaches to the greens.

The royal club offers historic clubhouse, championship course and a separate nine-hole layout.
