Golf-Club Grand-Ducal

Golf-Club Grand-Ducal is Luxembourg’s historic and institutional course, established beside the capital in the mid-1930s.

Created on land associated with the Grand-Ducal family, the course was laid out by Major J. C. Symonds from 1935. The sporting association was founded in 1936. Wartime damage affected the second nine, but restoration returned the club to a full 18 holes in 1948. Later clubhouse works and six practice holes added in 1994 modernised the facilities without erasing the original identity. The club has also hosted the European Golf Association’s headquarters since 1937.

This is a traditional, tree-lined continental parkland course. Its challenge comes from controlled driving, angles into modest greens and the cumulative effect of mature woodland rather than modern championship length.

Visitors are mainly welcomed on weekdays under the club’s published handicap and access rules. Its proximity to Luxembourg City and Findel Airport makes it particularly convenient for business travellers.
