Golfpark Almkreek

: a rural championship course in the Land van Heusden en Altena, shaped by water, wind and broad fairways.

Almkreek developed in the late 1980s as a complete regional course and later added par-three and par-three/par-four training loops. The course belongs to a period of Dutch golf development in which clubs aimed to combine sporting quality, accessibility and landscape integration. Maturing planting, improved drainage and stabilised greens gradually created the present character. The club now hosts regular competition, welcomes visitors and links the course closely with practice facilities and clubhouse services. The open property combines polder, canals, meadow and mature planting. The landscape directly affects ball flight, bounce and distance perception. Wind is influential across open sections, while trees, banks or buildings shelter other holes.

Fairways are broad, but water and bunkers interrupt aggressive lines. Modern greens support varied hole positions. The design rewards position and approach angle. A safer route usually exists, but it leaves a longer or less direct next shot. Greens are defended by contour, bunkers and occasional water. The course plays long in wind and requires good approach-distance management. The course has 18 holes, plays to par 72 and measures about 6150 metres in its reference configuration. Multiple tees maintain balance for different standards.

Restaurant, practice, academy and access from Breda, Gorinchem and Utrecht strengthen event value. Clubhouse, dining and practice facilities extend the day beyond the course.
