Golfclub Nuclea was founded in 1985 within the environment of Mol’s nuclear research centre. Bruno Steensels designed a nine-hole loop that transformed an institutional setting into a quiet and surprisingly natural course. The club gradually developed around accessible golf, a regular competition calendar and practice facilities serving both local players and visitors. Maturing planting, professional maintenance and evolving tee positions strengthened the course without erasing its original character. The course is hidden among Kempen spruce forest. Trees create intimate corridors and several water features add light and strategic decisions. The landscape directly affects ball flight, wind, bounce and distance perception.

The design alternates short holes, more open fairways and approaches across water. The par-three seventh, played over a water hazard, is one of the memorable moments. The design rewards accuracy, position and preparation of the next shot rather than power alone. At par 33 and 2,066 metres, the loop provides a complete round when played twice. Hole positions and wind can substantially change its reading. The loop has 9 holes, plays to par 33 and measures about 2066 metres from its reference tees.

Quiet surroundings, good surfaces and a recently renovated clubhouse make it attractive to members and visitors.
