Golfclub Golf Residentie Dronten

: a large residential course built across eighty hectares of the former Zuiderzee floor.

The course was developed in the second half of the 1990s as the central sporting element of a large residential landscape in Dronten. Unlike a traditional members-only club, it is integrated among houses, apartments, lakes and shared open space. The 18-hole non-commercial course also welcomes outside golfers. Planting has matured, greens have stabilised and visitor services have expanded around Grand Café De Vier Seizoenen. The site’s history is inseparable from Flevoland itself, as the entire property stands on land reclaimed from the former Zuiderzee. The course covers about eighty hectares of polder ground. Large lakes and canals are constant visual and strategic elements. Residential buildings border some sections, but playing corridors remain widely separated. Shaped landforms create movement and echo the site’s former aquatic history. Wind crosses the open areas freely, while mature planting shelters other holes.

The routing moves between residential zones, water and artificial contours. Fairways are often generous, but lakes and property boundaries require directional control. Greens are clearly visible and protected by bunkers or water. The size of the property allows true championship length without creating a crowded feeling. At 6,131 metres and par 72, the course includes several long holes. Strong driving is helpful, although water and approach angle create the main difficulty. Multiple tees maintain accessibility. Open holes can play much longer in the wind. Walking is possible, but the scale of the estate makes the round moderately physical.

Non-residents are welcomed by reservation. Grand Café De Vier Seizoenen, terraces and the residential setting give the club a distinctive, complete atmosphere.
