Golfbaan Sluispolder

Sluispolder combines an unusual remnant dune landscape with the open clay polder north of Alkmaar.

Construction began in 1982. Alan Rijks supervised the first nine, while Joan Frederik Dudok van Heel directed holes 10 to 18, opened in 1983. A separate par-three course supports the club’s strong teaching programme.

The first nine uses slightly rolling sandy ground; the back nine is more openly polder-like. Optical narrowing, water and frequent south-westerly winds create more difficulty than the moderate length suggests.

Visitors can book nine or eighteen holes, use extensive practice facilities and combine the round with a visit to nearby Alkmaar.
