Founded in 1906, the club opened the first nine at Refrath in 1952 and the full course in 1955, designed by Bernhard von Limburger.

The course leverages its woodland/parkland environment to sculpt angles, obstacles, and approaches to the greens. The course features 18 holes, with a par of 72, and measures approximately 6160 meters from the championship tees.

The traditional club is closely linked with German professional history, including Bernhard Langer’s 1975 victory.
