Moliets — Robert Trent Jones joining Landes pine forest to four Atlantic links holes
Geography & setting
The course occupies 84 hectares between the Landes pine forest and the Atlantic Ocean. The majority of holes wind through the pine forest, while a sequence of four holes directly reaches the dune and the marine environment.
History
Golf de Moliets was created in the 1980s as part of the resort's development. Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed the course, which opened in 1986. The site subsequently expanded into a twenty-seven-hole complex, comprising the main Forêt et Océan course and the nine-hole Airial course.
Architecture
Jones crafted a hybrid layout. The forest holes feature doglegs, bunkers, and greens protected by trees; the oceanic sequence opens up to the wind and allows for more ground play. The transitions give the course an unusual identity.
The course in detail
The course measures 6,286 meters for a par 72. The forest holes demand precision and controlled trajectories, while the four coastal holes completely change in rhythm, visibility, and exposure.
Club experience
Moliets offers a driving range, an academy, a complementary nine-hole course, and year-round hospitality. Its proximity to the beaches and other major courses in the Landes region makes it easy to plan a regional golf trip.
