Golf du Sart

Le Sart is a century-old narrow technical course centred on an eighteenth-century château and exceptional tree heritage.

The club was founded in 1910 and became an 18-hole course in 1921. After the First World War, English architect Percy Boomer redesigned the layout. In 1935 the château and surrounding land joined the club, and the building became the clubhouse that still defines the venue. The course occupies thirty-five hectares within the Lille metropolitan area. More than seventy-nine tree species, ranging from young planting to specimens over a century old, frame the fairways. Gentle elevation and dense vegetation isolate the course from the city.

The design relies on narrow fairways, doglegs and precise green approaches. Trees often replace large visual hazards. Architecture requires choosing the correct side of fairways and controlling ball shape. The course plays to par 71 at 5,724 metres for men. It is not long by modern standards, but lateral mistakes are immediately costly. Sloping lies and compact greens increase difficulty.

The château houses clubhouse and restaurant. The club provides a twenty-bay range, ten bays covered and illuminated, plus putting and pitching greens.
