Golf du Rhin

Rhin Chalampé is a 6,278-metre par 72 on an island between the Old Rhine and the Grand Canal d’Alsace. Mature trees, occasionally narrow fairways and bunker-protected greens create classic golf within a Natura 2000 reserve.

Golf du Rhin has operated since 1969 and the course is generally listed as opened in 1970. Donald Harradine is associated with the historic design, with modern work attributed to Reinhold Weishaupt in 2003. The club became Europe’s first GEO Certified golf in 2012 and received the Silver Biodiversity label in 2024. The flat island course lies at the French-German-Swiss crossroads. River, canal, wetland and old woodland create a distinctive protected environment, with both forest corridors and wind-exposed openings.

Accuracy is central. Trees frame drives and bunkers defend most greens. The wrong side of a fairway can close the approach, rewarding patient construction rather than spectacular target golf. The club publishes 6,278 metres and par 72 at maximum length. Common white markers measure about 5,984 metres, Course Rating 72. 1 and Slope 134. Five tee sets preserve accessibility.
