Golf d’Hardelot

Les Pins is Hardelot’s historic masterpiece: a Tom Simpson British-style course among pine forest, dune ridges and firm sandy ground.

Tom Simpson designed Les Pins in 1934 within Hardelot’s national forest. It quickly became a continental reference through subtle greens, bunkers and angles. A meticulous restoration sought to recover the simple strategic character of the original layout. The course crosses pine forest roughly one kilometre from the sea. Dune mounds, sandy soil and vegetation provide partial wind shelter while creating natural corridors. Drainage is excellent and year-round play is possible.

Simpson used fairways of changing width, delicately edged bunkers and refined green contours. The course rarely dictates a single line, but strongly rewards correct position. Strategy reveals itself gradually rather than through dramatic hazards. The official version measures 5,919 metres and plays to par 71. Rolling holes and width changes require varied tee clubs. Greens demand accurate reading and controlled approach play.

Les Pins has its own clubhouse and forms part of Hardelot’s two-course complex.
