Golf de Saint-Germain

Les Genêts is Saint-Germain’s historic secondary course, a nine-hole par 33 designed by Harry Colt in 1922 within the same sandy forest as the Grand Course.

Golf de Saint-Germain moved into the royal forest in 1922 and entrusted both courses to Harry Shapland Colt. Les Genêts was created as a shorter learning and improvement loop but retained the same quality and landscape integration. It remains essential for juniors, developing visitors and qualifying competition. The loop crosses pine, broom and shaded sectors of Saint-Germain forest. Sandy soil drains exceptionally well and supports year-round play. Spring broom and summer shade create seasonal character.

Colt composed six par fours and three par threes. Forest fairways, compact greens and bunkers demand directional control. The course develops irons and approaches without the Grand Course’s long par fives. Detailed sources publish 1,951 metres and par 33 from men’s tees. Played twice, it becomes par 66. It is easier than the Grand Course but technically prepares golfers for Colt greens and style.
