At a glance
Le Héron is a long 2,962-metre par-36 nine-hole course beside the Loire, with elevated greens, Scottish-style rough and inland-links character.
History
The course was developed at Domaine de La Carte to complement hotel, pool, dining and Loire tourism. A. Besancenez created a complete sporting loop, later joined by the beginner Petit Héron. Open relatively flat ground between Blois and Amboise is wind-exposed, with tall rough, broad horizons and fully irrigated elevated greens.
Architecture
Two par threes, five par fours and two par fives require length and direction. Raised targets limit recovery and wind favours lower flight. FFGolf publishes 2,962 metres and par 36 for one physical loop, with men’s SSS 35. 6 and Slope 66 over nine holes.
Club experience
Hotel, pool, dining, seminars, tennis, charging, practice, buggies and club hire create a complete domain. Physical 9 holes; par 36; 2,962 metres; A. Besancenez; men’s SSS 35. 6; Slope 66; elevated greens.
