Golf La Bruyère

La Bruyère — a family-oriented tactical course around a former Villers Abbey farm

The course is located in Sart-Dames-Avelines, on the border of Walloon Brabant and Hainaut. It winds through agricultural slopes, groves, high forests, and several water features around the historic farm.

The La Bruyère course was designed in 1988 by Frédéric Theys around the Château-Ferme de La Bruyère, a former dependency of Villers-la-Ville Abbey. The club subsequently developed into a family-friendly site, featuring an eighteen-hole course, a nine-hole practice course, and training facilities.

The design emphasizes varied lengths and angles rather than prioritizing power. Bunkers, ponds, and trees primarily influence decision-making zones, while the greens remain accessible but require careful reading.

La Bruyère appears welcoming from the tees, but the undulating fairways and well-placed hazards make scoring more challenging. The course rewards consistent management over spectacular shots.

The Château-Ferme serves as the clubhouse, enhancing the club's family atmosphere. The nine-hole course and introductory facilities allow for comprehensive progression from beginners to the main course.

The Round selects it for its intelligent accessibility: a welcoming club that remains technically interesting for experienced players.
