Golf de Domont-Montmorency

Les Châtaigniers is a strongly rolling Fred Hawtree course within Montmorency forest, where natural topography provides the principal defence.

Golf de Domont-Montmorency was created in the 1960s on Val-d’Oise high ground. Fred Hawtree designed a course using forest movement without excessive artificial hazards. The club later built strong member and competitive culture with a substantial junior academy. The course lies within Montmorency forest on rugged land dominated by chestnut, oak and undergrowth. Holes constantly climb and descend, sometimes opening towards the Paris region. Woodland provides quiet but makes walking physical.

Hawtree lets elevation defend the course. Elevated tees, uphill doglegs, downhill greens and uneven lies create constant change. Four par fives, five par threes and nine par fours are defined by trees and positional routes. FFGolf publishes 5,789 metres, par 71, men’s SSS 71. 4 and Slope 140. The front nine measures 3,045 metres and the back 2,744, with elevation compensating for shorter distance.

The club opens year-round except Tuesday and accepts visitors up to handicap 36. Pool, fitness, restaurant, childcare, range and seminars complete the offering.
