Golf de Cherbourg

Cherbourg is a 2,890-metre nine-hole course on the wooded La Glacerie heights, with direct views over the harbour and port.

Opened in 1973, the club became a long-standing Cotentin member venue with strong junior coaching. More than fifty years of tree growth transformed open fairways into precise corridors. The nearly flat plateau overlooks Cherbourg. Maritime pine, birch, larch, fir, oak, ash and rhododendron create rich vegetation, with harbour views from holes two, eight and nine.

Narrow fairways, fairway bunkers and small protected greens punish inaccurate lines. Conservative tee-club choice and directional control are essential. Federation and tourism sources publish 2,890 metres. The loop is generally played as par 36 and repeated for a full round.
