Golf de Chantilly

Longères is Chantilly’s second full course, a complete par 73 crossing forest, sandy heath and more open ground within one of French golf’s historic clubs.

The course began in 1951 when Henri Balézaux and Pierre Hirigoyen created a first nine to complement Vineuil. Forty years later Donald Steel extended Longères to eighteen holes. That project also changed its relationship with Tom Simpson’s historic course, with several holes redistributed between the layouts. Chantilly’s recent decision to restore Vineuil’s Old Course permanently gives Longères a clearer independent identity. Chantilly stands on sandy soil within extensive forest. Pine, oak, heather and clearings give Longères a British heathland atmosphere despite its Picardy location. Natural drainage keeps surfaces firm, while more open sectors allow greater wind influence than on Vineuil.

Longères relies on length and variety. Numerous par fives, dogleg and straight par fours, and demanding par threes create a full test. Donald Steel introduced more contemporary architecture while respecting the club’s aesthetic: simple bunkers, forest-defined fairways and greens where approach angle matters. FFGolf publishes 6,259 metres and par 73, with men’s Course Rating 73. 6 and Slope 135. The front nine measures 3,243 metres and the back nine 3,016. It is long without being brutal, with difficulty created by repeated accuracy and positional discipline.

Chantilly remains a traditional club accepting visitors on weekdays outside public holidays. Facilities include an exceptional practice ground, restaurant, tennis and tournament infrastructure.
