Golf de Bondues

Trent Jones is the American counterpart to neighbouring Hawtree: more open, water-influenced and built around clear target-golf decisions.

After the success of its first course, Bondues commissioned a second layout from Robert Trent Jones and his team. The club became one of the rare French complexes bringing two such different architectural signatures together. Trent Jones introduced broader lines, water hazards and more visually dramatic design. The course occupies the more open parts of the property. Trees remain, but are less dominant than on Hawtree. Lakes, ditches and long views increase wind influence and create greater exposure.

The design is based on target golf: visible landing areas, hazards protecting aggressive routes and greens surrounded by sand and water. The club records approximately 1,300 trees and 84 bunkers. Shots must be played to specific targets rather than simply advanced. The course measures about 6,146 metres and plays to par 72. Water regularly enters play. Powerful driving can create opportunities, but errors in distance or direction are heavily punished.
