Golf de Belle Dune

Belle Dune is a dune-and-pine course in the Marquenterre, recognised for its links spirit and integration within thirty hectares of protected nature.

Jean-Manuel Rossi designed Belle Dune in the early 1990s as part of carefully managed development on the Picardy coast. The course quickly gained recognition for playing quality and respect for the dune landscape. It now stands among France’s leading natural courses. The course lies between Quend-Plage and Fort-Mahon in one of northern Europe’s largest dune systems. Opening and closing holes cross maritime pine forest, while the central section follows dune contours among marram and scrub. Sea wind and sand dominate.

Rossi used natural landforms without heavy earthmoving. Fairways sit in dune valleys, greens are often exposed and offline shots may disappear in vegetation. The design demands touch, imagination and acceptance of unpredictable bounce. FFGolf tables publish 6,081 metres and par 72. Length is substantial, but wind, contour and uneven lies create the main challenge. Forest holes demand accuracy; dune holes require creativity.
