Golf & Countryclub Liemeer

The Torenbaan was created in 2007 by Alan Rijks as part of a leisure-development project at Nieuwveen. The club also operates the shorter Bovenlandenbaan. The course belongs to a period of Dutch golf development in which clubs aimed to combine sporting quality, accessibility and landscape integration. Maturing planting, improved drainage and stabilised greens gradually created the present character. The club now hosts regular competition, welcomes visitors and links the course closely with practice facilities and clubhouse services. The course occupies open Green Heart polder land with water, long views and strong wind influence. The landscape directly affects ball flight, bounce and distance perception. Wind is influential across open sections, while trees, banks or buildings shelter other holes.

Rijks created broad fairways, strategic bunkers and visible greens in a semi-links style. The design rewards position and approach angle. A safer route usually exists, but it leaves a longer or less direct next shot. Greens are defended by contour, bunkers and occasional water. Full length and wind require controlled ball flight, while drainage supports year-round play. The course has 18 holes, plays to par 72 and measures about 6100 metres in its reference configuration. Multiple tees maintain balance for different standards.

Clubhouse, restaurant, practice and visitor access make it practical between Amsterdam, Leiden and Utrecht. Clubhouse, dining and practice facilities extend the day beyond the course.
