Golf & Country Club de Fourqueux

Blue is the longest of Fourqueux’s three physical nine-hole loops, a rolling arboretum course where accuracy into small greens matters more than power.

Golf at Fourqueux dates to 1925, but the club took its modern form in the 1960s. American Lou Pettit reorganised twenty-seven holes into three interchangeable loops, with Fred Hawtree associated with supervision in historical sources. Blue became the longest and most sporting component. The course occupies seventy protected hectares beside Marly forest. Fourqueux records roughly 23,000 trees and more than two hundred plant species. Blue crosses an arboretum of ginkgo, araucaria, Douglas fir, cypress and mature deciduous trees. Uneven lies are common.

Fairways are narrow, doglegs frequent and greens compact. Blue plays approximately par 37 within current combination structures and measures around 3,078 metres, though cards and tees have changed. Ball shaping and conservative tee-club selection are important. Combined with White, Blue forms the main par-73 course published at about 5,828 metres from white tees. Alone it is a genuine nine-hole loop with enough par fives and long par fours to function as half a championship course.

Fourqueux is a private family country club with pool, tennis, junior club, bridge, billiards and dining. Visitors are generally accepted on weekdays and Saturday mornings. Physical loops are recorded without counting every combination separately.
