Eindhovensche Golf

Eindhovensche — the Philips family’s Harry Colt course in heath and woodland south of Eindhoven

The course is situated in Valkenswaard, within a landscape of woods, heathlands, heather, and sandy soil. The tall pines and natural clearings lend the terrain a more English than industrial atmosphere.

Eindhovensche Golf was established through the initiative of Anton Philips and his wife Anna, who aimed to enhance Eindhoven's appeal for the company's executives and employees. Harry Colt was commissioned to design the course, which opened in 1930. The club has since maintained a strong identity linked to the region and its local industrial history.

Colt orchestrated a highly fluid routing, featuring bunkers strategically placed in landing zones, greens open from a precise half of the fairway, and changes in direction that constantly renew the wind's influence.

The course is gently undulating and remarkably coherent. No single hole attempts to dominate the others; the challenge is built through the repetition of approaches from different positions.

The club offers a traditional and sporting experience, with a strong emphasis on walking, Colt's legacy, and amateur competitions.

The Round selects it for the purity of its routing and how the Philips' history led to the creation of one of the great classic Dutch courses.
