At a glance
Fort Vallières is Dunkerque’s technical nine-hole course, shorter than Vauban but strongly defended by water and fortification-inspired lines.
History
Fort Vallières complements the main course within Dunkerque’s 27-hole complex. It uses the same Vauban-inspired architectural vocabulary in a quicker, more accessible format. The course supports progression, nine-hole competition and short rounds.
The loop crosses canals and Flemish countryside near Fort Vallières. Frontal and lateral water is frequent. Wind affects open ground, while some woodland provides more enclosed sequences.
Architecture
The design requires precise position. Fairways are often framed by water and ditches. Angles can be semi-blind and greens use geometric defences. Moderate length does not reduce difficulty.
The course plays to par 35 at about 2,966 metres. It contains a genuine variety of holes and can be played twice. Water and wind increase risk from tees and into greens.
Club experience
Fort Vallières shares Dunkerque’s complete facilities and is well suited to quick golf, advanced introductions or group events.
