Dunbar Golf Club

Dunbar — a narrow links between wall, railway and sea, carrying four centuries of golf

The course runs along the sea to the east of the town on a narrow strip of land. Stone walls, the coastline, and the railway define its boundaries.

Golf has been documented in Dunbar for over four hundred years, and the club has occupied the East Links since 1856. Old Tom Morris extended the course to eighteen holes in 1894; Ben Sayers and James Braid subsequently enhanced the bunkering.

The traditional out-and-back routing capitalizes on the length of the site. The numerous bunkers, firm greens, and coastal lines create a progressive challenge.

After the initial holes, the course embarks on a long sequence directly exposed to the sea before returning against the wind.

The club retains a strong East Lothian identity and welcomes visitors into a historic clubhouse.
