Cypress Point — Alister MacKenzie linking forest, dunes and Pacific rock coast

The initial holes wind through the Del Monte Forest, after which the course transitions to the dunes, cliffs, cypress trees, and rocky coastline of the Monterey Peninsula.

Cypress Point opened in 1928–1929, designed by Alister MacKenzie, with Robert Hunter assisting. The site allowed him to bring together several exceptional landscapes into a single round.

MacKenzie employed natural lines, greens seamlessly integrated into the terrain, and a progressive transition towards the sea. Holes 15 to 17 form one of golf's most celebrated coastal sequences.

The course is not excessively long, yet the wind, angles, and small greens demand exceptional precision.

Cypress Point is exceptionally private, with access by invitation and an experience entirely focused on the landscape and the course itself.
